From Zero2Hero? Do 1-day seminars give value?

One of the biggest misunderstandings concerning seminars is that especially one-day-seminars can bring you from “Zero2Hero”.  The benefit of short seminars depend to a high degree on the current knowledge basis of the participants,  their preparation before and their home studies afterwards. Learning takes time, the braincells have to connect and that cant be overtaken. So to teach the basics and advanced materials on the same day will come for most participants to early (the beginners) as the new material needs time to “sink in”.

The ancient martial arts know this and  therefore practice every movement over and over in a slow manner, so the brains cells can connect and the right movement can go to a subconsious level. The quality of the next advanced movement or teqnique would allways depend on the the quality one  ”stored in” the basic movement. So these initial steps should be done very diligent as you cant proceed to really high levels without these clean basics.

The same applies to many other skills aside for martial arts so we should focus on our first steps in gaining that knowledge and get them stored in in a quality way not rushing to much as we will pay for that later. Give your brain some time to implement these skills at the beginners level.

On the other hand the more advanced participants of course can take the next level already but might be bored going though the basis again. So obviously the success of a seminar also depends very much on the equal skill basis of the participants.  Its best to take the people by the hand where they currently are and for that you would need comparable skill levels.

So the higher  people are on the learning curve of a new skill the more advanced can the teaching be and the more benefit will be there for the participants. They allready established brainconnections and know the meaning of the expressions in that particular skill.

If  – of course- the seminar is about themes likes fitness, eating, memory and health then you have themes most people can connect to easily – as they allready have plenty of own experiences - and will surely take benefits home.

Different approach if you talk about accounting, legal, tax issues or advanced stock broking. In this cases it is difficult to go from “Zero2Hero” in one day, cause thes are kind of abstract skills many peopel never really touched before and therefore are not connceted.

The best way under these circumstances then would be preparation (send out material befor the seminar) and repetition afterwards.
